So far so good with my half-marathon training! I am getting so excited for the Cape Cod Zooma Half Marathon! This past week I completed my first “long-run” of 8 miles and it felt great! I’ve been logging into charity miles for each run to raise money for the every mother counts foundation.

It is recommended to replenish your body with fluid and electrolytes after 60 minutes of endurance exercise. Instead of buying chemically processed sports drinks, go all natural and make your own! You will still get all the flavor without the yellow 5 and brominated vegetable oil, a chemical also found in flame retardants. (Due to exposure through social media, I believe PepsiCo is in the process of taking brominated vegetable oil out of their products.)
Coconut water, sea salt and citrus will replace the sodium and potassium lost during exercise. Unlike store bought sports drinks, this natural electrolyte combination also provides vitamins, minerals and enzymes.
I used a little organic honey to tone down the tart taste of the lemons and limes. This drink is so refreshing and hydrating, a perfect way to keep you energized!
2 cups coconut water
1.5 cups water
2 limes, juiced
1 lemon, juiced
2 tablespoons honey
1/8 teaspoon sea salt
-Mix, chill and enjoy!
